Get ready for another big talent coming out of Gatineau, Quebec—Filipe Duarte is a name to watch in the cycling world. Starting his cycling journey at just 8 years old, Filipe quickly found his footing on the road, racing in the U9 category within a year. Alongside occasional cross-country running, he was invited to join a sports development program, where he began training on mountain bikes, refining his skills and experimenting with cyclocross.
His versatility as a rider only grew from there. Filipe started competing on the track and road for the Quebec regional team, representing the province in events like the Tour de Gironde International (2.1). Soon after, he took his talents to Europe, racing with the Canadian cyclocross team and competing in the 2023 World Championships in Hoogerheide, Netherlands.
Filipe’s talent didn’t go unnoticed. After some testing with top teams, his impressive numbers caught the eye of the CPS Professional Team in southern Italy. From March to September 2023, Filipe took on the Italian racing scene, placing 2nd at the Coppa San Michele in August, along with several other top-10 finishes. As a puncheur, he excels on rolling terrain with short climbs, and at just 18, Filipe is already making waves. He’ll turn 19 in February, positioning himself as a strong contender for the youth classification next season.
But Filipe won’t be alone on this journey. He’ll be joined by his childhood friend and fellow rider, Enrique Martins. The two, both originally from Brazil, have known each other for over 10 years and have been training and racing together since childhood. Together, they’ll be heading to Belgium to take on the European racing circuit, and with their strong bond and shared experience, there’s no doubt they’ll push each other to new heights.
We’re excited to see what Filipe Duarte brings to the team in 2025, and we’re confident that this young Canadian talent will be gunning for results as he takes on the international stage.
