We’re thrilled to welcome back Sven Batteau, a true Flandrien and seasoned presence in Belgian cycling, to X-Speed United for the 2025 season. Sven isn’t new to the team—he spent time behind the wheel for X-Speeders in Belgium in 2023, guiding riders through some challenging race terrain in the region. With two solid seasons at EVOPro under his belt taking on races like the 1.Pro Maryland Cycling Classic in the USA, Scheldeprijs, and a string of other 1.1 events, honing his skills on the road and behind the scenes.
In addition to being a trusted DS, Sven knows his way around a wrench, having served as a mechanic for the Tarteletto Continental team. Fluent in Flemish, French, and English Sven brings a unique cultural and tactical perspective to the team—a true asset in the multilingual, high-stakes world of European racing.
For those new to the racing scene in Flanders, Sven’s advice goes beyond just “good legs.” He emphasizes that racing in Belgium requires brains, tactical awareness, and an ability to conserve energy wisely. “You have to stay on the wheels, have a 360° view, and be smart. Flanders can go from hilly terrain to crosswinds to cobbles in an instant,” he explains. And no matter how tough the day gets, he believes in always finishing the race; the cumulative experience is like “an insurance policy” for your career—a wealth of knowledge and grit you can draw from down the line.
In 2025, Sven will be a key figure in the Benelux region, DSing, guiding, and managing the X-Speed United squad through the famously challenging races of Belgium and beyond. With Sven’s leadership, we’re sure to see an exciting and dynamic season unfold. Here’s to a thrilling year ahead with Sven at the helm!
